이 노래도 다소 두서가 없는 넋두리인데요, 고속도로에서 외로이 떠돌고 있는 화자의 감정을 표현하고 있습니다.

연인이 여행 가방을 챙겨서 바다 건너 이탈리아로 떠나버린 상황이라는 것을 알 수 있습니다.

 

6절은 서부의 금문교에서 동부의 자유의 여신상까지 고속도로 따라 걸어가는 자신의 모습, 혹은 그것과 닮은 자신의 처지를 요약하며 결론지어집니다.
