이전 곡들인 Bob Dylan's Blues의 거대한 확장판입니다.

 

즉 요즘말로 아무말 대잔치 유머에 해당합니다.

 

다만 1절과 마지막 절에 술을 먹는 화자의 내용이 이어지는 것과 중간중간 사귀는 여자에 대한 이야기가 나오는 점에서 전체가 하나로 연결된 이야기들이라 생각할 수는 있을 것 같습니다.

 

1절은 술을 너무 많이 마신 주인공이 한 여자와 하룻밤을 보내려하는데, 여자가 알고보니 대머리라 창밖으로 뛰어내렸다는 이야기입니다.

 

2절은 화자 자신이 자주 취해있어 우스꽝스러울때가 많지만 자기에게는 함께 있는 여자가 있으니 자신의 명예를 훼손하지 말라는 이야기입니다. 근데 그 여자는 자기를 모르는 사람인 척 도망간다고 하네요.

 

3절은 장작헛간에서 그림그리다가 검은 페인트를 뒤집어써서 공공 목욕탕에 씻으러 갔는데, 반값 (25센트)만 쓰려고 욕조 뒤에서 씻어야했다는 이야기입니다.

 

4절은 케네디 대통령에게서 전화가 걸려와 미국이 성장하려면 어떻게 해야하는지 상담을 해줬다는 내용입니다. 미국이 성장하려면 브리짓 바르도, 아니타 에크버그, 그리고 소피아 로렌 (모두 섹스 심벌 여배우들)이 필요하다고 말해줬다는 것입니다.

 

5절은 자기에게 성격이 까탈스러운 키작은 여자친구가 있다는 내용입니다. 그 여자보고 식인종이자 고기 그라인더로 묘사합니다.

 

6절은 자기에게는 아주 매력적인 여자친구가 있으니 작업 걸어봤자 소용없다는 이야기입니다(다른 여자친구?). 포크 가수라고 하네요.

 

7절은 Talkin' World War III Blues처럼 꿈을 꾸어서 여자를 쫓고 방공훈련 시간동안 방공호로, 완두콩으로, TV와 함께하는 저녁식사로, 샷건으로 여기저기 다녔다고 하네요.

 

8절은 첨탑 앞에서 지지 호소 연설을 하는 정치인을 만난 이야기입니다. 정치인은 모든 사람들을 사랑한다면서 그 근거로 베이글, 피자, 돼지 곱창을 모두 잘 먹는다고 이야기합니다.

 

9절은 TV를 보니 축구 스타가 샤워후 로션 혹은 머리에 바르는 기름 통을 들고 나오는 광고를 봤다는 것입니다. 괜히 뚱했는지 축구선수가 윌리 메이스(야구선수)나 마틴 루터 킹이나 올라툰지 (월드 뮤직 음악가)를 아냐고 따집니다.

 

10절은 자신이 만난 가장 웃긴 여자는 Mr. Clean의 증손녀인데, 하루에 15번 목욕하고 화자가 콧수염을 기르길 원했다고 합니다.

 

11절은 왜 자신이 항상 술에 취해있는지 설명합니다. 잡념을 없애고 생각을 단순하게 해줘서라고 합니다. 술 먹고 팔자 좋게 노래하며 돌아다니며 좋은 시간을 보낸다고 합니다. 공룡을 잡고, 엘리자베스 테일러와 진하게 사귀고, 리차드 버튼에게 혼난다는 그런 헛소리와 함께 노래와 음반이 끝납니다.
